It's amazing how precisely I could see Egypt in Koktebel, though I had never been to Egypt back then. But the spirit always told me the truth.
And here in Sharm, the shore is exactly my idea - the open sea. The beach stretches - left and right - into Infinity, the great coral suddenly goes vertically down - very deep, while the Tiran island is floating in the distance, seemingly near and yet so unattainable...
I love Tiran more that Etna. I love Egypt more than Sicily.
Back then, in Koktebel, people said one could find anything there - Greece, Italy, Egypt...
But I could only see Egypt. Greece is not my cup of tea. Italy is fine (in terms of a Museum), but the shore has been developed and is unbearable. Only between Letojanni and Mazzaro there is a wild stretch of the beach where my heart could meet the Mideterranian - face to face, heart to heart...
I'm missing Koktebel, though.
Киловый Утес, освещенный Солнцем,
вплывает в расселину между камней:
песчаная пирамида - в морскую перевернутую.
Вечный Египет моей души.

P.S. It would be strange to come back to Koktebel...It would be like coming back to your young years... Maybe I will... But in fact, I won't...
